Frank was the King of it, Robbie made it fashionable all over again – but nobody does ‘Cool’ like Louis Hoover.

Louis Hoover and his 17-piece big band performed the best of Sinatra at Motherwell Concert Hall, Aberdeen Music Hall and Perth City Hall in April 2003.

Recreating some of Frank Sinatra’s world famous recordings, Louis captured the essence of Ol’ Blue Eyes, assisted by the cream of British musicians.

Salute to Sinatra recaptured an era of tuxedo-suited, nightclub sophistication with classic numbers like Mack The Knife, The Lady Is A Tramp, Come Fly With Me, Witchcraft, Under My Skin and Strangers in the Night.

Louis Hoover’s vocal ability has prompted plaudits like “simply sensational” in The Daily Mail and “came, saw and conquered” in The Globe, USA.

Manchester United’s traditionally reticent manager, Sir Alex Ferguson, saw Louis perform and said: “If he played football like he sings, I’d sign him tomorrow” while Ron Atkinson claimed this incredible entertainer “Sounds more like Sinatra than Sinatra!”

The Sinatra Music Society praised a recent Louis Hoover show, stating simply: “A marvellous performance by a wonderful performer,” adding that the “not-to-be missed show” had surpassed all of their expectations.

Louis uses the techniques set down by the Rat Pack leader, adding his own distinctive magic and giving a fresh edge to the songs we have lived our lives by.

His impressive list of credits includes performances with The Herb Miller Orchestra, The Manhattan Orchestra, The Blenheim Orchestra and opening The Proms in front of a 40,000-strong audience in London’s Hyde Park.

He appears regularly at the headquarters of British jazz – Ronnie Scott’s in London – where his vocal talent, engaging manner and laid back style has won him a legion of loyal aficionados. His appearances in Motherwell, Aberdeen and Perth are sure to add to those numbers.

While Sinatra created Songs for Swinging Lovers and Robbie is King of Brit Pop, there is no finer exponent of “Brit-Swing” than Louis Hoover. 

Louis Hoover coined the phrase for big band music with a modern attitude and this amazing vocalist can “Brit-Swing” with style!

This man takes the classics of big band music, infuses them with a new energy and a new flavour. Then he serves them up, without apology, as something more than nostalgia.

Here’s the big surprise: the people who are buying his albums are as young as he is and even younger.

Louis Hoover has performed with many bands; including Wall Street Crash (who had nine hit albums across Europe) and with Timecode, with whom he had a US number one hit with a version of the classic Louie Louie; however it was after touring around Europe and the USA singing swing classics to sell out audiences that he realised the interest in “Brit Swing” was just more than a passing fad.

On returning to England, recordings of his performances of standards and his own compositions managed to impress Ronnie Scott enough for Ronnie to offer Louis a series of dates at his world famous Jazz venue.

Since then, Louis Hoover and his big band have played their Salute to Sinatra to sell-out audiences and his album, And This is Me… – recorded with many of the veteran musicians from Sinatra’s own orchestra – has received critical acclaim and extensive air play.

In Spring 2000, Louis received rave reviews for his portrayal of Frank Sinatra in the critically acclaimed Frank, Sammy & Dean – The Rat Pack Live from Las Vegas.

Spring 2001 saw him undertaking a nationwide tour with his Salute to Sinatra production, followed by his reprisal of the Sinatra role in a further tour of Frank, Sammy & Dean.

While Hoover has been artfully getting his act together a bandwagon has begun to roll with artists as diverse as Harry Connick Jnr, Sinead O’Connor, Natalie Cole, Robert Palmer, Robbie Williams, Elton John and Rod Stewart all jumping aboard with their own rendition of forties smooch and fifties standards.

Now the time is right for Louis Hoover to take his place at the head of this prestigious parade, because Louis Hoover is a purist. Louis Hoover is the real thing.
