With over fifty years of experience in show business between them, Gary Wilmot and Mike Alexander will guide you through a fabulous, and uniquely wide-ranging, evening of music and witty reflections on a half century of careers at the very top of their professions. The pair share an easy, long-standing professional relationship and a passion for music, performance and perfection.
A household name and a superb entertainer, Gary Wilmot is one of the most versatile and charming leading men on the British musical stage. His credits range through Cameron Mackintosh’s hit touring production of Oliver! (Fagin) Carmen Jones at the Old Vic, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang at the London Palladium, Me and My Girl, Copacabana and Half a Sixpence. Dramatic roles include Bottom in Midsummer Night’s Dream and a national tour of the adaptation of the Graham Green novel ‘Travels with my Aunt’. A recording artist, Gary has several solo albums under his belt reflecting his wide taste in music which includes an enduring love of the jazz classics.
Mike Alexander has worked in just about every area of the music business, with every kind of performer from small jazz combos to symphony orchestras. As Musical Director, Conductor and Arranger for Shirley Bassey, he has performed in some of the world’s most prestigious concert halls such as: The London Palladium, The Royal Albert Hall, Carnegie Hall and The Sydney Opera House alongside international artists including: Liza Minelli, Ray Charles, George Shearing and many others. He is regarded as one of the most experienced musical directors in the world. And he plays a mean piano!
