Robert has produced and co-produced many plays and musicals including Menopause The Musical, Olivier Award Winning Defending the Caveman, Pam Gem’s Piaf, eleven productions (including a West End run) of the comedy Mum’s the Word, Mum’s the Word 2 – from Toddlers to Teenagers in the UK and Germany, Prunella Scales in Too Far to Walk (London), the musical comedy Always Patsy Cline (UK and Australia) and many more lost in the mists of time and alcohol. The company has also produced sensational concerts, including The Piano Men and The Music of Dirty Dancing. In 2008 with Óskar Eiriksson, The Nederlander Organisation and William Morris Agency, Robert presented Sexy Laundry at The Hayworth Theatre in Los Angeles which was nominated for three LA Stage Awards (winning “Best Director”).
Robert has almost 35 years’ experience as a Producer of plays, pantomimes, musicals and concerts across the UK. He has presented artistes as diverse as Elaine Paige, Jane McDonald, Joe Longthorne, Elkie Brooks, Danny la Rue, Bobby Davro, Lena Martell, Dean Park, Andy Stewart, Keith Harris and Orville, Gary Wilmot and The Nolans. Robert’s shows have starred such actors as Bernie, Linda and Maureen Nolan, Beverly Callard, Blythe Duff, Patsy Palmer, Imogen Stubbs, Jenny Éclair and Kim Hartman and he has given acting “breaks” to singers including Carol Decker (T’Pau), Maureen Nolan (The Nolans), Lorraine McIntosh (Deacon Blue) and Brianna Corrigan (Beautiful South).
Since 2005 Robert has also produced many shows in Ireland including a 22-week Dublin season and three sell-out Irish tours of Menopause The Musical, a 10-week Dublin season of Strictly The Rat Pack and the European première of The Blues Brothers Revival plus two Dublin seasons and an Irish tour of The Gruffalo. He has also produced five Irish tours of Dirty Dusting and two tours of Mum’s The Word as well as Trading Faces, Girls Night The Musical and, 51 Shades of Maggie (3 tours). This year Robert shall produce his seventh pantomime for the University Concert Hall in Limerick, an endeavour which is proving to be very successful for both parties.
In 2010, with RTÉ Television, Robert co-produced and appeared as head judge in the 10-week RTÉ1 reality television series to find the male and female leads for Fame The Musical, which Robert then toured across Ireland throughout the autumn of 2010. In 2011 Robert produced the European première of Motherhood The Musical and co-produced a subsequent 77-week tour of Australia. Previously in Australia Robert has co-produced Always…Patsy Cline, Dirty Dusting and 51 Shades of Maggie.
Across his long career, Robert has produced over 30 pantomimes. 2017/18 saw him producing Sleeping Beauty at the Gardyne Theatre in Dundee, Cinderella with the University Concert Hall, Limerick and saw him producing Ireland’s first touring pantomime, Beauty and the Beast.
In 2018 Robert will tour across the UK with Menopause The Musical, 51 Shades of Maggie and The Dolls Dragged Up. He will also tour Ireland with the comedy show It’s Wine O’Clock. Pantomime season 2018/19 will see Robert return to the University Concert Hall, Limerick with Snow White, Gardyne Theatre, Dundee with Cinderella and tour Ireland with Sleeping Beauty.
